For a paper for my class I need to do a study of individuals who read a specific genre. There is no set number of readers I need to interview, but the more readers the better.

Helping me out would require you to answer a long survey (about 50 questions.) Some of these questions require more detailed answers. Then, you would need to be willing to talk to me once so I can ask you follow-up questions about your answers.

So, please fill out my survey.

Poll #1480822 Reader's Study
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 9

Would you be willing to take a detailed survey to help me with my class?

Please check any or all genres that you are an avid reader of. You do not need to read the genre exclusivly, but you need to read it often.

Subject:Public Service Announcement
Security:Public

Here is an unsolicited public service announcement.

August is Purple Ribbon month, to remind you all NEVER LEAVE A CHILD IN A CAR. Not ever. Not even for a minute. In summer heat, even with the windows open a car, car temperatures rise to dangerous levels very quickly. If you leave the car on with the AC (or heat) running, you run the risk of having your car stolen with your child inside. If you leave your older child in the car (who can get out of their car seat on their own) unattended in a running car they may accidentally release the emergency brake or shift the car into gear, hurting themselves or pedestrians.

Also, always make sure to place your keys out of reach of your children, and remind them that it is never safe to play in or around cars.

If you drive a large SUV or minivan, remember the huge blind-spot behind you. It only takes a few seconds for a toddler to run behind your car, and if you drive a large vehicle, you will not be able to see them.

Finally, if you change your routine and are driving a child you do not normally drive, come up with a system to remember that they are in the back seat. Either place your wallet or something else you use often in back seat, or leave something that will remind you of your child such as a teddy bear in the front seat when you can see it. I know it sounds impossible to imagine that you could forget your own child, but it happens all the time when overtired parents change their routine.

These are all based on true stories. See http://4rkidssake.org and http://kidsincars.org for more info.

This is particularly important right now in considering the future of our country.

Mood: silly

I just had a bad dream last night that all these people found my lj and were really pissed off about stuff that I had written. It's probably silly, but I switched the whole thing to friends only. If you read this and aren't on my friends list because I forgot you or don't know you let me know and I will add you.
